November 7 Update
Writing:
The kids are working on their last nonfiction writing piece! They chose a topic they already know a lot about, or one they are interested in learning more about. So far we have written our introduction, first chapter, and a how-to. Next week we will write another chapter, a diagram, a kinds-of page, and a fun facts page. Ask your child what he/she is writing about.
Math:
The kids are using number lines to help them solve addition and subtraction problems. The homework sheet will help with this as well.
Reading:
The kids are using their reading time to read about their topic for writing.
Voracious Reader of the Week:
Congratulations to Brooklin for being our Voracious Reader! Brooklin has been doing an awesome job in reading, and has been doing a great job reading for her research. Keep up the great reading, Brooklin!
Phonics:
The kids are learning a lot of strategies from animals to help with reading hard words. We are learning how different animals face challenges, and that ties into how we can also face challenges when reading hard words, and different tricks to solve them.
SEL:
We are talking about the word 'peaceful' during SEL. We are learning different strategies that can help us feel peaceful when we may not be feeling the best. A paper went home for you to fill out with your child, and stapled onto it is a strategy your child wrote to help them feel peaceful. This may be something they want to put in their bedroom to remember for when they need to feel more peaceful.
Super Kid:
Congratuations to Levi for being this week's Super Kid! Levi is a great friend to others, and helps others feel happy when they may not be having the best day. Keep up the great work, Levi!
Homework:
The homework page is due by November 14 (Early Release Day).
There is also a homework for YOU, PARENTS! Please fill out the green sheet, and return by next Friday, November 14. This will help for parent teacher conferences.
