Writing:

The kids finished another realistic fiction writing piece.  I love their creativity of thinking of a problem to try and solve.  Next week we will work on our LAST realistic fiction, so we can start working on Poetry.

Math:

The kids are working on adding and subtracting BIG numbers!  We are also doing some measuring with centimeters.  The math homework will help with the measuring (a centimeter ruler was stapled on the page in case you need one).

Reading:

For reading, we are doing some Social Studies reading, to learn all about our local governement.

Voracious Reader of the Week:

Congratulations to Graham for being our Voracious Reader of the Week!  Graham has been doing a great job with reading, and has found some new books that he really enjoys.  Keep up the great reading!

Social Studies:

We are learning all about the local government.  We learned what a mayor is, and what responsibilities the mayor, court, and council all have.

Homework:

The math homework is due by Friday, April 24.

Extra Information:

Please email me a picture of mom and child (can have other family members in the picture as well) by May 1 for a "top secret project".

We are in need of clorox wipes!  If you could donate any to our class, we would be very grateful!  Thank you!

"Sensory Tools"- These are starting to become toys and not tools in the classroom.  I told the kids that they can definitely have a fidget/nee doh/putty to HELP them concentrate if that's helpful, but the amount of these and stuffed animals seemed to have multiplied since coming back from Spring Break, and are becoming major distractions.  Please encourage your child to leave any toys at home.  If your child is using it for concentration, I'm letting them use it, but once they start throwing them around, letting others use them, making noises with them, then they are becoming toys, and I'm making them go in their backpacks.  Thank you for your help.
