March 22 Update

Writing:

The kids finished their Hudsonville History books this past week!  They really enjoyed learning and writing about the history of Hudsonville.  Have them show you some of the pages that they wrote.

Next week, we will start our next unit on Realistic Fiction.  This is such a fun unit to write, since they get to get creative with thinking of realistic problems and how to solve them in three tries.  The first and second attempt won't work, but the third time's the charm with the real solution.

Math:

The kids finished their unit about shapes by taking a math test on Friday.  Make sure to check out how they did when these come home on Monday.

Here's our finished 'quilt' we made with shapes:

Reading:

We will finish our book clubs this week, by making posters to convince others to read these books.  The kids really have expanded their reading by trying out new books, and many have told me that they now have a new favorite book.  My goal is to keep them finding new books that they will enjoy to be lifelong readers!

We have also been enjoying reading and voting on which book we like best for our March is Reading Month book battle!  Ask your child which book they have liked best so far.

Voracious Reader of the Week:

Congratulations to Temperance for being this week's Voracious Reader!  Temperance has been reading a ton this year, and has grown because of it!  Keep up the great reading, Temperance!

Mystery Readers:

The kids have loved all of our Mystery Readers!  It's so fun to guess who the mystery reader is each day.  If you would still like to sign up, there is still some time!

Homework:

The math sheet that went home is a great one to review some 3-D shapes!

Super Kid:

Congratulations to Ollie for being this week's Super Kid!  Ollie is such a joy, and a great friend to others!  Keep up the great work, Ollie!

Extra Information:

We are having fun celebrating all of the special kids in our classroom!  If your child's day is still coming up, and they would like a person to come, please just email me so that we can figure out a time that would work best.

These little leprechauns also had fun celebrating St. Patrick's Day earlier this week!

Crazy socks to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day!
