March 13 Update

Writing:

The kids are going to finish their Hudsonville History books that they are writing next week.  They have really been enjoying learning more about Hudsonville, and all of the things that Hudsonville used to be like.

Math:

The kids are working with shapes!  We even made a 'quilt'!  Next week we will finish our math unit with a test on Friday!

Reading:

Book clubs are going strong in our classroom!  It is fun to hear the kids actually discussing their books with each other, and finding common things between the different books in the same series.

Voracious Reader of the Week:

Congratulations to Levi for being this week's voracious reader!  Levi is doing a great job reading, and finding new books that are on his level and that interest him!  Keep up the great reading, Levi!

Mystery Readers:

We have loved having mystery readers come to the classroom!  If you would still like to sign up, please click here:

Homework:

The timeline paper went home on Thursday (I gave them an extra day to do it).  I want them to write five important things in their life that happened in order.  (some ideas might be when they were born, first time they crawled/walked, first lost tooth, started kindergarten, rode a bike, moved, started second grade, etc.). We were doing timelines for Hudsonville, so this was something fun to do for their own lives, and maybe a good talking piece to do with parents to learn how old they were for certain things.

Super Kid:

Congratulations to Temperance for being this week's Super Kid!  Temperance is a great friend to others, and her contagious laugh will make anyone feel great!  Keep up the great work, Temperance!
