January 23 Update

Writing:

The kids finished their reviews on movies this week, so I'm excited to read these and maybe be convinced to watch some of these over these cold, snowy days!

Next week, we will be writing a review on a restaurant.  So maybe over the weekend, have them think of some restaurants they have been to and like (McDonalds, Texas Road House, Culvers, Dorados, etc.)

Math:

We have been adding up to 1,000 this week!  We are also very into our money that we have been earning to buy different things!  Ask your child how it's going with earning money, and what they think they can do to earn even more.

SEL:

The kids learned all about empathy this week.  We learned how to put ourselves in other's shoes when they may be feeling a certain way, and how we can help be empathetic.

Homework:

With all of the snow days this week, we didn't get as much time to work on Valentines in class.  They are supposed to have 10 finished by now (5 per week), and there were quite a few kids that weren't at 10 yet.  I had them bring home a list where they either circled names, or put H's by to write on scrap paper for each of those kids.  I will give them a construction paper when they bring those scrap papers back to school next week.  They need to have three sentences for each student, and words spelled correctly, and correct punctuation.  There are some examples of words and what to write on the back of the list that came home.
