October 3 Update

Writing:

The kids finished their last small moment this week!  Next week, we will be switching gears, and learning how to write a nonfiction piece.  This will tie in perfectly with our reading, since we started the Non-fiction reading unit.

Fancy Purple Pen Award:

Congratulations to Harper for being this week's Fancy Purple Pen recipient.  Harper did an awesome job writing a small moment on Color the Park!  She included a great lead, transition words, a wonderful wrap up, and a lot of showing-not-telling with onomatopoeia!  Keep up the great writing, Harper!

Math:

We are full swing into our second unit for math.  The kids are working with three digit numbers, and will soon add and subtract to make numbers in the 100s.

Reading:

The kids are reading non-fiction books based on topics that they want to learn about.  We will learn what authors put in non-fiction books, so we know what we need to include in our non-fiction writing.

Voracious Reader of the Week:

Congratulations to Catherine for being this week's Voracious Reader!  Catherine is doing an awesome job reading, and has grown so much already this year!  Keep up the great reading, Catherine!

Social Studies:

The kids are learning about rural, urban, and suburban communities, and the different helpers you would find in communities.

Super Kid:

Congratulations to Kyla for being this week's Super Kid!  Kyla does a wonderful job in class following directions and being a great friend to others!  Keep up the awesome job, Kyla!

Homework:

The math page is due by Friday, October 10.
