September 12 Update
Writing: The kids are busy working on their small moments. This week we learned how to write four different leads (talking,action, snapshot, and question), ask your child which one they chose to use for their writing. We also learned how to write transition words to keep our writing in order. Next week we will continue to write these small moments, and learn how to write a good wrap up for the ending. Math: The kids are working on making partners for 20 (example: 16+4=20). Ask your child to come up with as many ways they can add two numbers to equal 20...yes, 0+20 counts! We have also been talking about even and odd numbers, can your child tell you how they know if a number is even or odd? Phonics: The kids have been learning about the r controlled vowel and how it can be a little tricky! (We call it the Rascal R). There are so many words that sound like the er, but are actually spelled with an ir or ur (for example bird, or...burp...they loved ...
