Writing:

The kids are poets...and they know it!  We have been working on using our "poet's eyes" to look at normal objects, and looking at them differently, using our five senses, to write poems about them.  This week we learned how to write a Cinquain and a Diamante poem.  Next week we will learn how to write a Haiku, Acrostic poem, Sensory Poem, an I Am poem, and an Autobiography poem.

Phonics:

We are working on verbs, adjectives, nouns, and adverbs in phonics.  These are helpful for our poetry writing as well!

Math:

We took a math test on Friday.  These will go home on Monday, so make sure to check out how your child did.

Reading:

We are going to start reading fairy tales next week!  This is such a fun unit, since we are going to read some original fairy tales, and then also some spins on the originals, and read some fractured fairy tales.

Homework:

The five star sentence homework is due by May 8.
